WHO ARE WE?

It is in the State interest that telecommunication and broadcasting services are public and reachable to the entire population. Therefore, it has to ensure the access right to information technologies and communication, including the broadband service.

To achieve this purpose, the State, in its 2013-2018 National Development Plan, set as one of their strategies to impulse telecommunication technological development and innovation, expanding coverage and its accessibility, which translates in cost reduction and communication efficiency.

Joined to this effort is the Telecommunication Investment Promotion Body (Organismo Promotor de Inversiones en Telecomunicaciones) PROMTEL, a Secretariat of Communications and Transportations (SCT) decentralized body created by the Republic Presidency [1], which is trusted with the task to achieve coverage expansion and access to better telecommunication and broadcasting public services.

PROMTEL, for its administration and management, has an Administration Council [2], which is their highest authority integrated by different State Secretariats representatives, as well as by Independent Directors of the civil and owner society.

PROMTEL has an Administration Council integrated by the chairman head of the SCT; a Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público) representative and one from the Ministry of Economy; three Independent Directors and the Managing Director designated by the President of the Republic.
